Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Conduct armed security patrols of the Fort Indiantown Gap Installation on foot or in a vehicle. Enforce installation rules and regulations. Report unusual incidents, criminal activity, fire, or other hazards and act according to policies and procedures. Initiate reporting and investigations related to security deficiencies, unauthorized access, or attempted unauthorized access to the installation. Conduct access control, operate vehicle barrier systems, and visitor center duties at access control points located at Fort Indiantown Gap in accordance with installation regulations and police department policy. Use de-escalation techniques or applicable force in the performance of their duties in accordance with training and qualifications to protect themselves and others. Conduct traffic direction and control under the direction of police department personnel. Assist police and other emergency personnel as needed. Operate patrol vehicles, communications network, computers, alarm monitoring systems, closed circuit television systems, and other equipment. Operate installation emergency dispatch communications network center, monitor alarms and perform installation operator functions. Coordinate with federal, state, county, and local law enforcement and emergency service providers. Assist visitors and give directions. Assist with or participate in training programs to develop and maintain essential job knowledge and skills. Prepare security reports; maintain logs, and other forms as required. Perform other related duties. Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to the supervisor. **Must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.** **Must maintain active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police for the duration of employment in this position.** **Maintain firearms, less lethal qualifications and use of force training for the duration of employment in this position.** **Must pass an initial and semiannual weapons qualification.** **Must successfully complete all pre-employment and post-employment requirements in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56, The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.** **Maintain First Aid and CPR certification for the duration of employment in this position.** **Pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and psychological screening.** **Maintain access to a Common Access Card (CAC) as issued by the federal Department of Defense for the duration of employment in this position.** |

Work is assigned on a biweekly work schedule posted two weeks in advance. Detailed instructions are contained in police department policies, procedures and training materials. The Director of Emergency Services, Chief of Police, Installation Security Officer Manager, or Armed Installation Security Officer Supervisor on an “as needed” basis issues special written and verbal instructions. Work is performed independently within procedures and policies. Work is reviewed through personal inspection, observation, and reports. |
