Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The Kitchen Steward will assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient commercial kitchen. This position will support Kitchen staff and Guest Experience Coordinators by ensuring all kitchen areas, equipment, and service items met sanitation and operational standards. Responsibilities include dishwashing, deep cleaning, basic food preparation, inventory support, and assistance with events and deliveries while upholding sanitation, safety, and organizational standards in a high-volume, detail-driven kitchen environment.

Description of Duties:

Cleaning & Sanitation
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store pots, pans, utensils, china, flatware, stemware, and kitchen equipment
• Clean and sanitize counters, prep surfaces, sinks, and workstations
• Perform deep cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and storage areas
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and maintain waste areas

Kitchen Support
• Receive food, beverage, and supply deliveries; inspect for quality and accuracy
• Unload and store deliveries following proper food safety and FIFO rotation practices
• Maintain clean, organized pantries, refrigerators, and freezers
• Restock kitchen supplies as needed and keep work areas orderly
• Identify damaged, missing, or low-stock items and report to supervisor
• Assist with periodic inventory audits and storage reorganization projects

Basic Food Preparation
• Assist chefs with simple prep tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping produce
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines during all prep activities

Experience (XP) & Event Support
• Polish silver flatware, platters, trays, pitchers, coffee/tea servers, and copper chafing dishes
• Wash and prepare stemware and china service prior to events
• Assist with flatware, stemware, and china inventory counts
• Assist with breakdown, cleaning, and resetting of kitchen and service areas following meals and events
• Return all service items, equipment, and supplies to designated storage locations after use
• Support event preparation by staging clean service items and equipment as directed (non-guest facing items)
• Help unload beer and wine deliveries

Seasonal Vegetable Garden Support
• Assist with spring garden installation
• Maintain raised beds through weeding, watering, pruning, and harvesting
• Support kitchen use of harvested produce as directed

Errands & Miscellaneous Duties
• Assist with market and farm runs
• Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen and event operations
