Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Personnel will receive formal and on-the-job training to develop understanding and competence in gathering and analyzing intelligence information from a variety of sources to develop work products for law enforcement’s use in anticipating, preventing, investigating, and monitoring criminal activity. Personnel will assist in receiving, researching, and responding to requests for criminal intelligence information from law enforcement officers; receiving and assisting in the evaluation of tips from the public concerning potential criminal activities; collecting and organizing raw data on individuals and activities, and evaluating and comparing the data to determine its meaning and relevance to criminal investigations and assessments; and preparing and disseminating intelligence products within establish protocols. Duties are performed with increasing independence as experienced is gained. Work is subject to the highest confidentiality standards due to the access to highly sensitive or classified information. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 20% Utilizes computerized systems and software to research and categorize investigative and intelligence information in avariety of databases in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and Department policies and regulations. 10% Works directly with investigators to collect, evaluate, collate, analyze, report, and disseminate comprehensive reportsrelated to state, local, regional, and national security. 10% Assists in providing tactical and actionable investigative support and real-time intelligence to state, local, or federalinvestigations from multiple sources to include open-source research, and use of in-house and vendor databases. 10% Assists in researching and analyzing criminal intelligence data on individuals, businesses, groups, and activities in responseto requests for assistance in solving criminal investigations, developing leads, or in preparation for planned intelligenceoperations. 5% Provides assistance to federal, state, and local law enforcement investigators with proactive targeting of criminal activitythrough the use of various law enforcement sensitive databases, financial resources, and open-source analysis. 5% Assists in conducting interviews of the public and private sector as well as law enforcement personnel to collect appropriateinformation to independently determine an analytical course of action that will result in an investigative action for the requestor. 5% Assists with accurately identifying and communicating the validity of incoming tips to determine the course of action andforward the lead to the appropriate agency for investigation if necessary. 5% Assists in providing pre-operational planning assistance to support agencies with high-risk warrant executions and barricaded suspects. 5% Assists in performing strategic reviews of new technologies and databases that can support investigations including contract resources for real-time open-source intelligence. 5% Abides by policies for collecting, recording, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information to ensure the effectiveness and the legality of the intelligence process. 5% Establish and maintain liaison with analysts in other law enforcement and intelligence agencies on state, local, and federal levels to exchange information in areas of mutual interest and collaborate with these agencies during periods of heightened threat to ensure timely coordination and effective information sharing. 5% Receives formal training sessions, seminars, workshops, and on-the-job instruction to learn the various steps in the intelligence cycle, fusion centers roles and responsibilities, information gathering techniques, and other various aspects of fusion center operations. 5% Provides assistance to the Department Watch Center with Facebook for emergency response incidents, officer safety alerts, monitoring open source for situational awareness, and other requests as deemed appropriate by supervisors. 5% Performs other duties as required. Requirements Profile: Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Top Secret Clearance. |

Supervisory consultation occurs when unusual requests require the utilization of non-customary data sources. Receives training in applicable state laws and internal policies and as experience is gained, determines if intelligence or investigative information can be disseminated based on those laws and policies. In response to tips received from concerned citizens, private sector entities, and other law enforcement agencies, personnel in this position collect pertinent and relevant details to determine the validity and urgency of the information before establishing the appropriate course of action. Supervisory consultation may occur depending on the nature of the tip. |
