Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Under the on-the-job direction of shop staff, completes a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the manufacture of traffic signs, in order to gain related knowledge and the needed skillset. Receives on the job instruction and training from the Lead Sign Technician, Artist Illustrator I, Sign Technician Supervisor, and/or Sign Shop Manager in order to learn the tools and equipment necessary to manufacture signs. Uses hand tools and equipment to complete assigned projects. Assists in setting up, adjusting, operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment used to dry, bake, silk screen, transport and finish traffic signs. Assists with line production type sign making on an automated or manual silk screen or vacuum equipment. Mixes and applies paint through the silk screen process. Lays out and applies cut out letters and figures on sign blanks from detailed prints showing size, location, and message to be applied. Lays out and applies letters, numbers, and arrows on directional signs from orders showing message to be applied. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment, such as those used to silk screen and dry highway signs. Checks orders and verifies work to ensure accuracy. Assists in maintaining and organizing Sign Shop inventory. Performs manual labor in the loading and unloading of signs, materials, and tools from trucks. Performs other assigned duties as required. |

Duties may be performed independently as directed by Sign Shop Manager once sufficient knowledge is gained and skillset learned. |
