SERIES NATURE OF WORK: The Mail Production job series describes work performed in support of mail production services.
DEFINITION: This is manual work that involves the staging of outgoing mail processed by high-volume, production-level mail sorting equipment in a centralized mail production facility.
An employee in this job is responsible for loading letter trays, inserting trays into sleeves, banding/strapping sleeved trays, placing sleeved trays onto designated pallets, wrapping pallets, and loading and unloading trucks. Work may include assisting higher-level staff with the operation of high-volume mail insertion and mail sorting equipment and mail addressing and mail/postage metering systems. Assignments are received with general instructions and are carried out within well-established operating procedures. Work is reviewed by a supervisor for overall completion, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

• Packs, seals, wraps, and labels materials for delivery.
• Utilizes pallet jacks to load and unload trucks.
• Reviews shipping and receiving documents to ensure accuracy.
• Stacks and disposes of unused pallets and containers.
• Operates a motor vehicle used to pick up mail from various locations for mail sorting.
• Performs related work as required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
